Memorial Meeting on the Elbe in Oregon State

The Secretary of the Cossack Congress in America for the West Coast of the U.S. Yuri Antonov, attended the commemoration of Elbe day. Elbe day commemorates when on April 25, 1945 the US troops met with the Soviet solders in World War II outside of Torgau Germany, which marked an important step towards the end of World War II and Nazi Germany. Many Cossacks died in World War II on both sides of the front, and therefor, Secretary Yuri Antonov attend the commemoration and spent some time with the Veterans of both US and Russian Veterans. The commemoration was also attended by Mayor Beaverton.
