Remembering the Lienz Massacre

On June 5th, 2016 Cossack Stanitsas in the United States and Canada held a memorial service for those who suffered from the acts of Cossack genocide in Lienz, Austria of 1945. Stanitsa Nikolskaya, held a memorial service at Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church in Chester, Pennsylvania, and was attended by the Cossacks of the Stanitsa, as well as the Vice Ataman of the Cossack Congress in America Alexey Bocharnikov. The Kuban Cossacks of New Jersey, gathered at the Cossack chapel in the Cemetery at Rova Farms to pray for those who suffered on this day. The memorial was attended by several survivors of these tragic events, among them being Ataman of the Kuban Cossacks Abroad Alexander Pevnev. Ataman Pevnev recalled memories of these events and shared them among the Cossacks. The Importance of this tragic event for the Cossacks must never be forgotten.
